Throughout 2008 you will be hearing about and invited to events geared to help us celebrate our family’s 150th anniversary of producing grapes and making wine here on Rhinefarm. Bacchus has never tired of watching over us.
This past March 12th we held Deed Day at the winery. It was on that date, in 1858, that Jacob Gundlach signed his name on Rhinefarm’s deed. One of the honors we received was a letter of recognition from our esteemed state Governor (the Terminator does not have a total grasp of who is whom between Gundlach and Bundschu, but he captured the sentiments we sincerely cherish) The other recognition is an editorial written after the event by the editor of our local newspaper, The Sonoma Index Tribune, who attended our Deed Day celebration.
You may interpret this month’s letter as self-aggrandizement; however it is important that you as our customers know that you are linked to 150 years of Gundlach Bundschu customers and without your continued support, we would not be able to continue our pursuit towards our 200th anniversary.
Salud amigos,
Jim Bundschu
