Introducing the new gaming graphics cards GeForce RTX, NVIDIA assured that in comparison with Pascal the new the Turing architecture provides six times the performance, allowing you to play with 4K HDR graphics and 60 fps. As part of the Gamescom game exhibition in Cologne, journalists from the German PCGamesHardware portal tested the new flagship of the "green" GeForce RTX 2080 Ti in the upcoming blockbuster Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
A popular Fraps utility was used to estimate the performance. It can calculate the number of FPS per second) and record video clips with the image from the screen.
PCGamesHardware journalists could not get the promised 60 fps in the Shadow of the Tomb Raider even with Full HD graphics. More precisely, they could not get a stable 60 fps.
The FPS value varied constantly from 30 to 70 frames per second, and the counter showed 40 fps for most of the time. Considering that Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which is already out on September 14, a month ago "went to gold" (its development was completed), one can say with a high degree of certainty that it is at this level that you can count on the first time.
Many Western and Russian-language resources began to mock the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, which can not provide 60 fps with Full HD resolution, not to mention 4K and raytracing. But it is hardly possible to fully judge the performance of the video card only on the first test in one game. First, it would not be superfluous to give the result of testing the predecessor GeForce GTX 1080 Ti in this game. And secondly, to assess the benefits of real-time ray tracing in Shadow of the Tomb Raider is not possible in principle, since the support itself will be added only in one of the future updates. Publisher Square Enix has already confirmed the release of the corresponding update, but did not say when to wait for the release of the update with the support of ray tracing.
Recall, the adventure thriller Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be released on September 14, 2018 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. And this is only one of more than two dozen games that will be supported by NVIDIA RTX technologies.
In Ukraine, the recommended price for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is almost 40 thousand UAH.
